![]() The next 1/3 is Lazlo Strange, the titular dreamer. Reminded me constantly of Disney’s Atlantis. I would say that figuring out what happened to this city is a good 1/3 of the plot, and you get to meet a fun group of people trying to fix it or find it or whatever. But the city MIGHT be cursed, and all the gods are dead and can’t fix. What isn’t all right? You should read and find out. It was cursed 15 years ago after a major battle between humans and the gods, and while the humans “won” some things are still… not all right. Strange the Dreamer is a magical tale, where a monk-turned-librarian gets a once in a lifetime chance to help a city called Weep (not actual name). And even though there is a second book coming out as part of a duology, this book was incredibly satisfying, whimsical, and thought provoking. When I finished, I honestly felt like it was a privileged to be invited into this world. Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor is a truly astounding piece of work. You should read it, really, it’s a 5/5 win from me. ![]() ![]() I'm moving through GREAT YA recs I've found on this sub, so thanks to random-f-f-dent for this one!! This book literally smashed any remaining negative ideas I had about YA.ĮDIT: I finished this review and it’s horrible because I don’t know how to sum this book up. ![]()
